Silkstone Barbies: Revival of the Barbie Fashion Model Collection

If you’re a Barbie fan (or even just Barbie-curious), there’s some very exciting news you need to hear: Silkstone Barbie dolls are BACK, baby! 

First introduced in 2000, Silkstone Barbie dolls—also known as Fashion Model Barbie dolls or Lingerie Model Barbie dolls—quickly sashayed their way into collectors’ hearts. What makes them so special? These beauties are crafted from a very hard plastic designed to mimic the delicate, luxurious feel of porcelain—hence "Silkstone." They're like the chic cousins of the original vintage Barbie dolls, with that same old-school glam but a sturdy twist!

Since their debut, Silkstones have been a total sensation. Vintage Barbie collectors adore them for their sophisticated throwback style, and honestly, who could resist those dreamy haute couture outfits and poised vintage looks? Then, in 2020, the Silkstone Barbie line was discontinued. 

Fear not, dolls! 2024 marked Barbie’s 65th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than with the triumphant return of the Barbie Fashion Model Collection (BFMC)?! The only thing I don't like is that the new Silkstones are posable which means she's articulated. I think it cheapens the doll BUT she's still beautiful.

Legendary designer, Robert Best, the man behind over 100 fabulous BFMC designs over two decades, is back at it again. After a four-year hiatus (that felt like forever, let's be real), he’s gracing us with new Silkstone magic! The first doll to twirl onto the scene was the Sapphire Anniversary BFMC doll, released in June 2024—pure elegance and sparkle, fit for a diamond... or should we say, sapphire celebration! 

And that’s not all. In September 2024, another stunning creation dropped: a breathtaking Silkstone Barbie #2 dressed in a black satin gown with rich pink velvet accents. Talk about timeless Hollywood glamour!

BFMC doll #3, Petticoat Perfection, drops on May 19, 2025! You have to be a Mattel Barbie Club 59 member ($10/year). I'm super-excited! She's my favorite of the three that have debuted so far since the Silkstones returned. When I receive her, I'll be sure to take a pic and post it below. 

So whether you’re a longtime Silkstone superfan or brand new to the magic, now is the perfect time to dive (or should we say, twirl) into this glamorous world. Update your wishlist, polish up your display shelves, and get ready to fall in love all over again.

Barbie never goes out of style—and neither do the Silkstones.
