Hi Dolls!
I'm Lynne and have been into Barbie for, pretty much, my whole life! I live in San Diego but I grew up in Wisconsin (go Packers)! Did you know Barbie is from Willows, Wisconsin?! I enjoy yoga, movies, advocating for pancreatic cancer research, and blogging about my favorite gal, Barbie! I work in Marketing and Communications for an energy company. A few years ago, I started collecting Barbies and it turned into quite the hobby. With eBay, I was able to recreate the doll collection I had as a young girl. It brings back such wonderful memories! I have a number of Fashion Model Silkstone Barbie dolls but my favorite collection is my Mod Era Barbies (1967 - 1973.) I love this era because that's when I was introduced to Barbie and also because the fashion was so groovy! Think mini skirts, go go boots, sparkle ~ such a cool fashion period.
My friends tease me about my Barbie passion (obsession)?! I've learned a lot about Barbie over the years and have done quite a bit of research on Barbie since I started collecting. As I've been researching Barbie and her friends, I wasn't able to find the information I was looking for in one place. I was pouring through books and guides, and searching online for hours. So I decided to create my own Mod Barbies blog and make it a one-stop resource! (You're welcome, haha!) I'm looking forward to sharing with you what I know, and I'd love to hear your stories as well.
My goal is to provide an easy to navigate forum where we can share our Barbie stories, thoughts, photos and, well, to just talk Barbie! I'm going to provide Barbie news, history, fun facts and more. I'm very interested in the types of things you'd like to read about regarding Barbie and her friends! You can reply to this blog or email me at ModBarbies@gmail.com.
I will leave you with an interesting tidbit about us collectors. Mattel estimates that there are well over 100,000 avid Barbie collectors. Ninety percent are women, at an average age of 40, purchasing more than twenty Barbie dolls each year. Forty-five percent of them spend upwards of $1,000 a year. (I'm guilty!!)
